"I want to put a ding in the Universe" - Steve Jobs
Today's reality is that products are becoming more sophisticated, both in terms of advanced technology and a better customer experience. To open doors, you must build a visually attractive design with the functionality required by end-users and customers. That is where the Guild can help. Our team members provide you the consultative services necessary to build your product, ensuring that your design achieves or exceeds industry standards in technology and usability.
Our Business Management Process
Entrepreneurs, inventors, engineers, scientists, and any one else with a product idea starts the process by filling in a brief description.
Our review team will contact you about your submission.
Next, we may assign a time for you to present your idea before a panel of judges who will make a preliminary decision about assigning your project to a team of experts.
New product screening criteria are:New future end use applications or technological trajectory of product idea.
Financial criteria for successful venture.
Linkage of idea to strengthening regional economy technological clusters
We form 6 member teams to provide guidance and oversight to candidates who have passed the screening process on the viability of the technology or new product.
Membership for each team from consultants who are experts in management and operations of a business enterprise:
- Marketing, sales, distribution channels.
- Product design, manufacture, feasibility
- Innovation Management
- Business Management/Human Resources
- Team Leader
Candidates are assigned to a team for a six month period. The candidate acts as the team secretary and coordinator for team meetings.
- Takes notes and prepares minutes of each team meeting.
- Keeps archival records of team advice.
- Provides status updates and progress reports on candidate’s goals.
At the end of 6 months, we encourage all candidates to make a presentation to the general membership at a public forum, sponsored by the Guild. We do not provide legal advice about issues involving public disclosure of intellectual property, and the appearance in a public forum is solely at the discretion of the project candidate.
At the end of the six month period of team advice, a project candidate is free to select a member of the team, or multiple team members, for a paid consulting engagement. The decision to retain a private consultant is entirely at the discretion of the project candidate. Our members agree to charge a lower fee than normal to project candidates in the event that they are retained after the six month period. Our members also agree to accept either cash as a payment or an option, in lieu of cash, as may be negotiated by the project candidate and consultant.
For Great Ideas That May Not Get Selected For A Team
Not all products or ideas will be selected for a team project. Yet, the ideas are valid and may be successful if the entrepreneur obtains a little professional guidance. In these cases, we refer the entrepreneur to a Product Mentor.
The RTP Guild Product Mentor Program
Our product guild advisors are assigned to individuals who need some professional help on a one-on-one basis.
You begin the process of obtaining help from an advisor by filling in our initial project form. Please mark on the form that you are seeking a project mentor.
