Ty is an Industrial Designer, having graduated from Georgia Tech in 2004 and is currently engaged in part-time graduate studies at NC State's MBA Innovation Management program. His experience with designing products covers a broad range of categories with special emphasis on the home improvement industry.
Before founding Studio Hagler, Ty played the role of design evangelist within The Home Depot, making the case to senior executives for design and innovation in the retail environment. Ty then joined the Orangeworks department, an award winning innovation lab for new product development. While on the Orangeworks team, Ty led the internal design efforts, partnered with business anaylsis to align innovation with strategic merchandising goals.
Following a philosophy of rapid response design, Ty created and managed design specifications for 24 product concepts in 2007 with market forecasts of $5 to $100 million in annual sales.
Ty lives in the Durham, NC area with his wife, Gayle, and their dog Orion.
